Reiter's syndrome in its fully developed form is characterized by an association of non-specific urethritis, arthritis, conjunctivitis, and a number of less constant features (Reiter, 1916). Cases of urethritis and arthritis alone have a course indistinguishable from the full syn drome and are therefore included in this study. This leads to difficulties in nomenclature which will be resolved only when the aetiology of this condition becomes known.
