Effect of pressure on the water absorption of general purpose unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins was studied. The water absorption curves of polymers were determined at 25.5°C, 100% relative humidity, and 1 atm. Polymers were immersed into 28.5°C water at 1 atm and 1500 psi, respectively. The weight percent changes were observed after 144 hours. The data of 1 atm and 1500 psi matched with the weight changes of the sorption curves. The experiment indicated that no effect of pressure on water ab sorption of polyester and vinyl ester resins was found in this pressure range.
