Abstract The phytochemical investigation of the methanolic extract of the root of Ilex pubescens Hook . et Arn . furnished six compounds including three new compounds, ilexin A ( 1 ), ilexin B ( 2 ), and ilexin C ( 3 ), besides vanillic acid, vanillin, and caffeic acid. Compounds 1 and 2 were identified as 2‐phenylethyl alcohol derivatives, while compound 3 is a lignan derivative. The structures of these compounds have been elucidated by the combination of the analysis of NMR and MS data, CD spectra, and chemical evidences.
