Abstract

The aim of this study was to detect mis direction of the facial nerve fibers in patients who had had Bell’s palsy with complete clinical recovery. For this purpose, EMG records were obtained from the orbicularis oculi and orbicularis oris muscles of 40 patients who recovered completely from unilateral Bell’s palsy. The results show that subclinical misdirection of facial nerve fibers is a frequentevent in Bell’s palsy.
