Measurements of resonant absorption spectra using rectangular single-crystal YIG films with thicknesses in the range 6-16 mu m are made. These investigations, carried out at 32.56 GHz (Q band), form an extension of previous similar work carried out, both in this laboratory and elsewhere, at X band. The results are compared with calculations of resonance fields based on magnetostatic theory and it is possible to obtain extremely close quantitative agreement between the measured and calculated resonance fields. No evidence of significant exchange-mode contributions to the spectra is obtained for films within this range of thickness.
