This volume is a collection of reports presented at the Tenth Inter-American Conference on Toxicology and Occupational Medicine held in Miami on Oct 22-25, 1978. The contributions cover a wide variety of topics ranging from carcinogenicity and mutagenicity to ciguatera poisoning. The bulk of the reports deal with toxic and metabolic aspects of pesticides and other chemical environmental pollutants. There is no consistent theme that characterizes the various reports, although many are of considerable intrinsic interest. The title is slightly misleading, for only ten of the 46 essays deal with occupational medicine, and as noted, the main emphasis of the conference was largely toxicological in nature.
