Low−temperature heat−capacity measurements between 1.5 and 10 °K have been made on some compounds in the Y1−xThxFe3 system (x=0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 0.9, and 1.0). The electronic specific−heat coefficient γ exhibits a maximum at x=0.3. The lattice specific−heat coefficient β increases, while the Debye temperature ϑD decreases with increasing x. The results of this study are in agreement with a model proposed to explain the anomalous magnetic behavior of the Y1−xThxFe3 system. The variation of γ as a function of x is discussed in terms of a band model for the 3d transition metals.
