LXXV. Positrons from²⁵<i>Al</i>and^26m<i>Al</i>

Abstract

Abstract The positron emitters 7·4 sec 25A1 and 6·6 sec 26mAl have been produced by proton capture in 24Mg and 25Mg. Their subsequent decays have been investigated by means of a magnetic lens spectrometer. The maximum energies were measured as 3·24±0·03 mev for 25Al and 3·21±0·03 mev for 26mAl. The spectra show no complexities and yield straight Fermi plots down to about 1300 kev. The deviations from linearity at lower energies are probably due to scattering in the spectrometer. No gamma-rays except annihilation radiation was found.
