Abstract

IN a recent symposium on cardiac tumors, meager reference was made to the use of echocardiography in the diagnosis of intracardiac tumors.1 However, several reports confirming the value of echocardiography in the diagnosis of intracardiac tumors have recently appeared.2 3 4 5 This report presents another case in which the diagnosis of an atrial myxoma was made by echocardiography (subsequently confirmed by angiocardiography and surgery); clear margins of the tumor were defined by the echocardiograph as it moved within the heart.Case ReportA 51-year-old woman was admitted to Stanford University Hospital on September 24, 1969, for evaluation.
