Posttraumatic synovial osteochondromatosis represents chondrometaplasia of the synovium and subsequent endochondral bone formation. This condition frequently results in the formation of calcified loose bodies within the joint and may cause pain and limit motion. Secondary osteoarthritis is a frequent complication of this condition owing to the mechanical destruction of the articular cartilage by the loose bodies. The authors present a case of synovial osteochondromatosis demonstrated on bone scan with plain film, CT, and MRI correlation.
