In the United States house calls account for less than 10 per cent of patient–doctor contacts outside the hospital. JVO studies have been done to indicate the best place for providing care—the home or the office. The investigation now reported suggests some of the advantages and disadvantages of each site of care from the standpoints of doctors and patients.
