In perfused animal preparations of the dog, in which the pulmonary vascular bed is perfused at constant pressure inflow, stimulation of the upper thoracic sympathetic outflow may reduce the lung blood flow by as much as 30 per cent. Reasons are given in support of the view that the vessels constricted belong to the pulmonary vascular bed proper.
