Abstract

Abstract Friction coefficients between tires and an icy road were measured at various temperatures and slip velocities using an inside‐drum type testing machine. The tire contact with the icy road was observed during sliding. Effects of the number of sipes in a tread blocks on the friction coefficient were examined.
