Abstract In this article, the dual-reciprocity boundary-element method (DRBEM) to calculate two-dimensional multiple-phase-change moving-boundary problems is developed. Melting and freezing problems involving multiple moving boundaries of phase-change materials (PCM) in thermal storage systems are modeled, and the transient temperature distributions and phase-front time-marching images are predicted.
