Abstract A new method for hydrothermal syntheses of osmium(III), ruthenium(III), iridium(III), and rhodium(III) complexes with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) and propylenediaminetetraacetic acid (PDTA) has been developed. More than ten new complexes have been obtained in good yields and characterized by measuring their magnetic susceptibilities, infrared and electronic spectra, and acid-base properties. The stereochemical behavior of the iridium(III) and rhodium(III) complexes has also been described.
