Abstract

Abstract The essential oil of Ajuga chamaepitys (L.) Schreb. (Lamiaceae), was prepared by hydrodistillation and analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Twenty-five compounds were identified in the oil, which the monoterpene hydrocarbons (65.6%) predominated with a-pinene (16.1%) and P-pinene (34.3%) being major. The sesquiterpene fraction accounted for a further 18.0% of the oil of which germacrene D (5.6%) was the major component.
