Studies on helminths of North Dakota. VIII. Nematodes from the paddlefish, <i>Polyodon spathula</i> (Walbaum), including <i>Thynnascaris dollfusi</i> sp. nov. (Nematoda: Stomachidae)

Abstract

Thynnascaris dollfusi sp. nov. is described from the stomach of Polyodon spathula (Walbaum) in North Dakota and reported from this host in Alabama. It has a short intestinal cecum, a long ventricular appendix, spicules 1.07 to 1.45 mm long, and a vulva situated at the junction of the first and second thirds of the body. Female Camallanus sp. is also reported.
