A general hyperbolic solver, the CIP method, is extended to curvilinear coordinate systems. Although the coordinate is curvilinear, the velocity components in the Cartesian coordinate are used as dependent variables. The scheme is applied to strong explosion and natural convection heat transfer. The code accurately describes a cylindrically symmetric explosion even with rectangular or distorted grids. The simulation result of heat transfer agrees well with an experimental result.
