Abstract

1. The seeds of Simmondsia californica contain a liquid wax, which has been tested, and its characteristics and constants agree very closely with those of sperm oil and arctic sperm oil. 2. Qualitative tests indicate that the wax might consist principally of fatty acid esters of decyl alcohol.
