OVARIAN MATURATION INDUCED BY EYESTALK ABLATION IN PINK SHRIMP, Penaeus duorarum BURKENROAD¹

Abstract

ABSTRACT This paper describes attempts to induce maturation of ovaries and ova in pink shrimp (Penaeus duorarum) by eyestalk ablation and by control of environmental variables (light, temperature, salinity, and food). Ovaries and ova of pink shrimp can be induced to ripen within 2 weeks by eyestalk ablation.
