Abstract

A total of 201 patients with pelvic masses were examined by B-mode ultrasound. In 82% an accurate assessment of the size, location, and structure of the mass could be made. Useful and often crucial information was provided. The authors feel that ultrasound scanning is a safe, noninvasive examination which should be the first procedure in the workup of a patient with a definite or suspected pelvic mass.
