Abstract

Magnetic properties of alumite films, in which iron is electrolytically deposited, are investigated. The coercive force perpendicular to the film surface increases with the length of the needle-shaped iron particles until the particles reach a certain length, beyond which the coercive force remains constant. The coercive force perpendicular and parallel to the film surface are almost independent of cell diameter as long as the pore diameter is constant. The coercive force, however, was found to vary as a function of inclied angle. Angular dependence of hysteresis loss and remanent magnetization are both greatly influenced by the packing density of particles in films.
