Abstract

A theory of the electronic structure of disordered substitutional alloys is presented, which takes into account fluctuations in the alloy potential. The theory, which is formulated within a tight-binding framework, does not involve expansions in the concentration of one alloy component and hence is not restricted to dilute alloys. An expression is derived for the width in the spectral density of states which arises because of the fluctuations
