Four Canada-Ontario Flood Damage Reduction Program projects are evaluated. On the basis of potential flood damage avoided, benefits exceed costs for three of the projects. The fourth project, in an area of little economic growth, will likely be viable if the local economy expands. The Program also provides significant, but non-quantifiable, administrative, social and environments benefits. Local land use zoning is improved, the flood status of land is identified, and important contributions made to environmental preservation.
