The reactions of N,N′-dimethylethylenediamine with the cyclic phosphonitrilic halides N 3 P 3 F 6 , N 4 P 4 F 8 , N 3 P 3 Cl 6 , and N 4 P 4 Cl 8 lead to spiro halogenophosphonitrilic imidazolidines of the type[Formula: see text](n = 3, 4; x = 1, 2; X = Cl, F) together with polymeric materials. Structure[Formula: see text]has also been prepared by fluorination of the corresponding chloride with KSO 2 F and from N 3 P 3 F 6 and[Formula: see text]The 1 H and 19 F n.m.r., i.r., and mass spectra of the phosphonitrilic imidazolidines are discussed.
