Abstract Vapor-phase hydration of dicyclopentadiene in a flow system was promoted by niobic acid. Maximum conversion to the hydrated product was obtained at around the boiling point of dicyclopentadiene, 170 °C. Niobic acid rapidly decreased its catalytic activity when it was heat-treated at temperatures higher than 300 °C.
