Cyclometalated Complexes with Triphosphine Ligands:  A Novel Route for Promoting Pentacoordination in Palladium(II)

Abstract

The palladium(II) compound [Pd{3,4-(MeO) 2 C 6 H 2 C(H) NCy}{(Ph 2 PCH 2 CH 2 ) 2 PPh-P,P,P}][PF 6 ] was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis (C, H, N) and by 1 H and 31 P{ 1 H} NMR spectroscopy in CDCl 3 and 31 P{ 1 H} solid-state NMR spectroscopy. The molecular structure was determined by X-ray crystallography, showing it to be the first pentacoordinated cyclometalated palladium(II) complex.
