Abstract

The absence of a diabetic nurse educator and continuing education opportunities regarding diabetes management was the impetus for one staff nurse's research. Subjects' (N = 72) current knowledge about diabetes mellitus was tested before and after a peer-developed diabetes management presentation. Results reflected a need for improving diabetes knowledge. The teaching intervention positively influenced postintervention scores (p =.000).
