Abstract We developed five microsatellite primer pairs for the yellowtail Seriola quinqueradiata . The loci were highly polymorphic, with eight to 14 alleles per locus, and can be used to study kinship and/or population structure. Many of these primer pairs amplified polymorphic loci in cross‐species amplification tests for two other Seriola species ( S. lalandi and S. dumerili ).
