Since August 1977 more than 100 cases have been documented in five outbreaks, including one outbreak in Wadsworth Veterans Administration Hospital; and in the last 2 years more than 270 sporadic cases have been confirmed. The report by Kirby and colleagues in this issue (p. 297) should assist clinicians in the appraisal of patients suspected of having the disease. We wish to add...References1.
