The paper describes a general theory for a new method of current harmonic reduction in a.c.-d.c. convertors. The principle of the method is to modify the current waveforms on the d.c. windings of the convertor transformer by injecting harmonic currents at a particular frequency. Experimental results carried out prove that the new method is effective in reducing the alternating-current harmonics, and that it is applicable to any type of convertor.
