A coelomycetous anamorph was obtained in axenic spore cultures of Chaenothecopsis savonica (Mycocaliciaceae, Cali-ciales). This anamorph is described. The anamorph has also been found on specimens collected in the field. A coelomycetous anamorph has not earlier been reported from Chaenothecopsis. The similarity between the anamorph of C. savonica and Asterophoma mazaediicola, a lichenicolous coelomycete occurring in the mazaedia of Calicium species, is striking. Asterophoma mazaediicola was grown from conidia, and conidiomata developed in culture. It is suggested that A. mazaediicola is the anamorph of a Chaenothecopsis species. In some cultures of C. savonica, a Phialophora-like hyphomycetous synanamorph developed. Key words: Mycocaliciaceae, Chaenothecopsis, Asterophoma, Phialophora, anamorphs, cultures.
