A new method to study T violation in the transmission of polarized neutrons through a polarized target is considered. The method consists of the 180\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{} rotation of the neutron polarizer around the target. It is shown that an accuracy of the measurement of \ensuremath{\lambda}=D/C better than ${10}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}4}$ can be achieved if the rotation is performed with a precision of ${10}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}5}$ rad. The analysis below initially includes the possible neutron spin and magnetic field direction misalignments. \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.
