On the physical meaning of nonactive powers in three-phase systems

Abstract

This letter presents three-dimensional graphs of the Poynting vector distribution surrounding a three-phase line. Such displays help engineering students understand the physical mechanism of electric energy transmission and its separation in active and nonactive components.
