Abstract

A brief description is given of the anatomical operative findings considered relevant to fecal incontinence. The posterior sagittal approach and the importance of the electrical muscle stimulator in effecting meticulous repair are stressed. New viewpoints are presented with regard to the functions of the anatomical structures and their roles in fecal continence.
