Viscoelastic behaviour of some viscous liquids

Abstract

The viscoelastic behaviour of a number of supercooled hydrocarbon liquids and their derivatives has been studied using shear waves of frequencies 5, 10 and 30 MHz. The elastic compliance J∞ of these liquids increases linearly with temperature. The complex compliance J* is described by a viscoelastic analogue of the Davidson-Cole expression.
