Remarriage is a rising phenomenon within society. Given the prevalence of the blended family within the American society, and the higher risk for dissolution within higher-order marriages, it is essential for therapists to gain a greater understanding as to the difficulties that such families face. As such, this article presents an examination of the blended family through the lens of systems theory. This lens provides therapists with a way in which to view and facilitate growth in the blended family system. Policy implications are also provided.
