Abstract By irradiation, both di(9-anthryl)dimethylsilane and -germane afforded a new type of [4+2] intramolecular addition products that underwent quantitative cycloreversion by thermolysis. The photoproduct from the former was converted to a novel naphthotriptycene derivative.
