Abstract Pyrazoline ring-fused C60 derivatives (1, 2 and 3) as an example of monofunctionalized C60 with heterocycle are synthesized by using the dipolar cycloaddition. The reaction of 1,3-nitrilimine with C60 takes place readily to provide the target monoadduct together with the di- and triadducts in good total yields. Based on the fluorescent and electrochemical characteristics, features of pyrazoline ring-fused C60 are briefly discussed.
