Abstract

Ion-exchange functionalization of ordered mesoporous materials is described. It is reported to be a simple efficient method that provides increased loading of functional ligand on the pore surfaces. The Figure is a schematic representation of MCM-41after substitution of surfactant cation by M(aapts)22+ (M = Cu2+ or UO22+, aapts = 3-(2-aminoethylamino)propyltrimethoxysilane).
