Abstract

The electrical and thermal conductivities of dense matter in the crystalline lattice-phase are calculated by accurately taking into account the Debye-Waller factor. The inclusion of the Debye-Waller factor results in a reduction of the resistivities (enhancement of the conductivities) typically by a factor of 2 - 4 near the melting temperature. This change will have important consequences that bear on the cooling of neutron stars.
