Tuning a toxin: A set of 16 ester and amide analogues of the antimitotic macrolide rhizoxin was obtained by semisynthetic approaches and tested against cancer cell lines. The glycerol ester shows excellent antiproliferative activities and improved calculated log KOW values over all other derivatives.
