Abstract Acerentulus charrieri n. sp. is described from France. This species belongs to the confinis group, which is characterized by a long foretarsal sensillum a. Acerentulus charrieri n. sp. is characterized by possessing of 8 anterior setae on abdominal tergite VII, presence of seta P1a and absence of seta P3a on abdominal tergite VII, foretarsal sensillum b longer than c, posterior position of seta δ4 on foretarsus and absence of pores on sternite IV. The new species is similar to A. gigas, which was also described from France, and A. apuliacus, described from Italy. The mitochondrial cytochrome c-oxidase subunit I COI sequence (barcode) of the new species is provided.
