Click Reaction: Highly Efficient Synthesis of 2,3-Dihydroquinazolin-4(1<i>H</i>)-ones

Abstract

Abstract In this work, condensation reaction of 2-aminobenzamide with various alkyl, aryl, and alicyclic aldehydes or ketones to 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-one derivatives in the presence of a catalytic amount of ammonium chloride in ethanol at room temperature is described. This reaction can be classified as a click chemical synthesis because of its high yields, short reaction times, and green and efficient reaction medium.
