Measurements of the temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity and the thermal expansion for LiIn compound are carried out under argon atmosphere at temperatures between 30 and 400 °C, and anomalous changes are observed near about 300 °C for both the experiments. It is estimated that the anomalous changes are due to the creation of vacancies at Li-sites. The formation energy of the vacancy is obtained to be (0.64 ± 0·03) eV from the excess electrical resistivity and to be (0.61 ± 0·05) eV from the excess thermal expansion.
