Benign cerebellar astrocytoma is a surgical disease where the prognosis with respect to both survival and functional outcome is favorable. Spontaneous regression of residual tumor is frequently encountered, allowing for observation of residual tumors instead of performing a second resection in cases where a second resection carries a high risk of neurological sequelae.
