Abstract

A book on the physics and chemistry of dusty plasmas is very welcome. This book, which is much more than collected works in workshop or conference proceedings, proposes a synthesis of current knowledge published in the different fields of dusty plasmas. It is divided into four chapters of nearly equal length, each of them dealing with an important aspect of dusty plasmas: physics of dusty plasmas, growth mechanisms of particles and kinetics, diagnostics, drawbacks of, and applications in, dusty plasmas. Even though the history of dusty plasmas begins with their diagnostics, the organization of the book is quite adequate. A short preface from the editor would have been appreciated (for general motivation).
