<P>This article reviews and assesses the state of research on public sector ethics and corruption in Europe as published primarily in journal articles in the past five years. The themes examined include the public service ethos, the regulation of conduct, trust, individual behavior, the role of professionals, and corruption. The article concludes by calling for more comparative research, a better mix of theory and practice, and the development of a coherent body of knowledge for European scholars.</P>
