Predation by Noctiluca miliaris on Acartia tonsa eggs off the coast of southern California in March 1976 appeared to take place mainly in the upper 20 m where Noctiluca was most abundant. Noctiluca miliaris, in spite of its nonselective feeding pattern, at times may exert an important influence on the A. tonsa population.
