Abstract It has been shown experimentally in a single-layer microwave absorber that a matching frequency can be adjusted in the frequency range from 7.7GHz to 9.4GHz. A reflection loss above -40dB or more in maintained by changing the mixing ratio of magnetic and dielectric material in the composite. Complex relative permeability and permittivity coefficients were measured using a terminative short and open circuit method. Theoretical calculations clarified the relations among these constants, matching frequency and the reflection loss.
